Galaxy S II, the latest flagship Android model from Samsung, is now available for purchase in the United States via wireless carrier AT&T.

The mobile phone was already made available in the country via Sprint, yet that wireless carrier received a slightly modified model.

AT&T, however, has just put up for sale the original Galaxy S II smartphone, only that it packs support for its HSPA+ network.

The new device features a price tag of $199.99 (about 150 Euros) with the signing of a two-year contract agreement, which is in line with the price tag that Sprint asks for its own model.

As stated above, the Galaxy S II arrived on shelves at AT&T with the same specs as the original, including a large 4.3-inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display, or the fast 1.2GHz dual-core application processor.

Moreover, it sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features support for 1080p HD video recording, as well as a 2MP camera on the front for video calling.

The specs list of Samsung Galaxy S II at AT&T also includes HSPA+ connectivity options, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, built-in GPS receiver, and 3.5mm headphone jack.

According to AT&T, some of the main features of the new device would include:

- Do more, see more, and enjoy more on what is already the nation's fastest mobile broadband network. - Record HD 1080p videos and watch in cinema-like quality on HDTV. - Large 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen in slim design. - Dual-core 1.2 GHz processor for super-fast multitasking.

The smartphone also features 16GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot that offers support for memory cards of up to 32GB.

The new mobile phone runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and features Samsung's own user interface on top of it. It also offers support for a wide range of mobile applications and services.
