Wireless carrier AT&T has made available for download a new mobile application for the owners of Windows Phone 8 devices, namely AT&T Locker.

The mobile client was designed to provide users with access to the operator’s cloud service that enables people to save files, photos, and videos to the cloud for fast access anywhere on the go.

The service provides users with up to 5GB of free storage space, and also enables them to set for their photos and videos to be automatically uploaded there.

The app comes with an Easy Upload feature, while also offering the possibility to easily share files via email, Facebook, and Twitter.

Although only 5GB of storage is available for free, users can also opt in for additional storage, but they will have to pay for it. However, WPCentral notes that the 50GB upgrade is available for free for a limited period of time.

Some of the main features of the service include:

- Your content is secure and backed up in the cloud - Easily access your photos, videos and documents from your phone and computer - Photos and videos can be automatically uploaded to your AT&T Locker from your phone - Easy to share to email, Facebook and Twitter - First 5 GB of storage is free. Additional storage is available. - Store your favorite memories in a safe and convenient place - Store music from your computer to your AT&T Locker

AT&T Locker has been quietly pushed out to Windows Phone 8 smartphones only now, but the application and service had previously been available for the owners of Android and iOS devices on the carrier’s network.

Standard data rates apply to the use of this mobile application, the wireless carrier explains. The cloud service can also be accessed from a desktop computer, and requires an AT&T Access ID to login.

Users interested in trying out the new AT&T Locker application on their Windows Phone 8 devices should head over to this page in the Windows Phone Store.
