Wireless carrier AT&T announced recently the launch of its AT&T U-verse in parts of Mobile and Pensacola, as well as in the Louisville area. The company's offering includes AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet and AT&T U-verse Voice, and provides residents in the aforementioned areas with a new choice for television and communications services.

AT&T's U-verse services come on the carrier's advanced Internet Protocol (IP) network and are meant to deliver a new option for those who could only enjoy cable services until now. According to the company, users will be able to enjoy a new experience when it comes to TV, broadband, home phone and wireless services, all of which are brought together by AT&T U-verse.

“Cable has been the only game in town for too long, and we're excited to change that today in Mobile,” said Bonnie Denson, general manager, Consumer Markets - Gulf States. “We know customers want a better choice to break free from cable, and AT&T U-verse is the answer.” Mary Pat Regan, president, AT&T Kentucky, commented. “For the first time in many years, consumers in Louisville will have the choice they've been waiting for.”

AT&T U-verse TV comes as a 100 percent Internet Protocol-based television (IPTV) service, the only one of the kind delivered by a national service provider. Users who opt for the service will be able to enjoy a wide range of new features, including Total Home DVR, a High Definition (HD) channel offering, AT&T U-bar for on-screen weather, sports, traffic and stock information, Weather On Demand, programming DVR recordings over the web from mobile phones or PCs, and more.

Other goodies also come towards users in Mobile and Louisville via AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet, which provides downstream speeds of up to 18 Mbps, or AT&T U-verse Voice, a managed IP-based service that provides great sound quality and reliability or a single voice mailbox for AT&T U-verse Voice and AT&T wireless messages. The pricing for the AT&T U-verse TV services starts at $49 a month, the company adds. More information can be found on the company's website.
