Major carrier AT&T has just announced the immediate availability of the Pantech Renue messaging phone. Starting today, the slider is available for purchase for only $69.99 USD (55 EUR) with a two-year agreement and after a $50 USD (40 EUR) mail-in rebate.

Pantech Renue adds to AT&T’s Quick Messaging Phone lineup and promises to deliver a long-lasting and stylish mobile experience to those who prefer affordable handsets.

Keep in mind that the phone is only available online and at the carrier’s authorized retailers and will arrive in AT&T brick and mortar stores on October 7.

Furthermore, the phone comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, which makes it the perfect tool for texting.

In addition, Pantech claims the Renue is constructed from 67% recyclable components, while the packaging is made from 95% recycled paper and non-POV soy ink.

This device comes to market just as our eco-ratings system is beginning to appear on packaging. Our goal is to empower consumers to make informed decisions about the technology they use by giving them information on how a device performs against targeted environmental criteria,” said Jeff Howard, vice president – mobile device portfolio, AT&T Mobility.

At first glance Pantech Renue might pass as a standard feature-phone, but the phone is powered by the Qualcomm Brew Mobile Platform.

With this rather unpopular platform onboard, Pantech confirms the Renue is capable of offering advanced performance and flexibility.

In addition, the slider sports a pretty decent 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display and a mediocre 3-megapixel rear camera with video recorder.

Pantech Renue is MIL Spec 810 G certified, which makes it resistant to sand, dust, high and low temperatures, humidity, vibration, as well as to solar radiation.

With Renue, we combined two company priorities: Pantech’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and delivering AT&T customers a durable messaging phone complete with the features they use most,” said Wyatt Whaley, vice president of product marketing at Pantech Wireless.
