Wireless carrier AT&T announced on Friday a new prepaid calling option that would become available for its subscribers starting May 11, allowing users to make unlimited nationwide calling for only $3 a day. According to the company, its GoPhone customers will be able to enjoy the flexibility offered by the new unlimited calling, while being charged only on days when they make or receive voice calls.

At the same time, the new AT&T GoPhone plan does not come with roaming or long distance fees, proving to be a convenient and affordable option for those that would rather choose a “Pay As You Go” package. Users of the new GoPhone Unlimited Calling plan will be offered text messaging and data service at the same rates as with other GoPhone Pay As You Go plans.

Moreover, the wireless operator announced that customers who primarily call other AT&T mobile subscribers would be able to choose for an Unlimited Mobile-to-Mobile plan, which would offer them unlimited calling to all 78 million AT&T wireless customers, as well as from them, for only $1 a day, the cost for other calls being set at $0.10.

“Prepaid customers are looking for more flexible options, and this new GoPhone offer bridges the gap between paying as you go and the need for unlimited calling,” said Judy Cavalieri, vice president of Prepaid Products for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “Customers see value in an unlimited prepaid service that lets them pay only for the days they use and operates on a network they can trust, and GoPhone serves both needs.”

The AT&T GoPhone packages sport a new handset and $15 airtime credit and can be purchased from any AT&T store, as well as from other retail locations. Those that already use GoPhone are offered the option to change their plan to an unlimited calling one through contacting the carrier. More information on the new plan, as well as on other options and offerings can be found on AT&T's site.
