Wireless carrier AT&T and computer maker HP announced recently the launch of the new HP iPAQ Glisten, a handset powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system and that proves to be a feature-rich 3G world phone that sports an AMOLED screen. The new mobile phone, the first of the kind available from AT&T, has been developed mainly for business users, and is capable of offering them all the tools they need on a handset.

The new HP iPAQ Glisten Windows phone comes to the market with a touch-friendly user interface, while also including an improved browser sporting Flash support. Moreover, it also enables users to easily stay in touch with the people they need to, as well as to access content and applications very simple through the redesigned Start Menu it comes around with, not to mention that the Internet Explorer Mobile proves a great way to access the Internet from this device.
A full QWERTY keyboard and the touchscreen display will deliver a great experience when it comes to texting or writing emails.

“The iPAQ Glisten packs a powerful punch with its multiple input methods, variety of connectivity options, and a familiar, consistent email experience that allows mobile professionals to connect with the people and information that matter most to them,” Susan Macke, vice president, Marketing, Handheld Global Business Unit, Personal Systems Group, HP, said. “Our strategy for success in growing the iPAQ business and customer base is working with industry leaders, like AT&T and Microsoft, and leveraging our collective strengths in the business and prosumer markets.”

According to the two companies, the new phone offers users a simple way to move between work and entertainment through the email features it has been packed with, accompanied by its Wi-Fi connectivity options, as well as by its built-inc GPS receiver. In addition, the new HP iPAQ Glisten also sports a variety of multimedia features and applications, while delivering access to the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, the app portal from where one can download software solutions for the phone.

“iPAQ Glisten adds to our innovative Windows Phone portfolio,” Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Phone Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, added. “It meets the demands of our business customers while boasting a beautiful AMOLED touch screen and a full package of multimedia features.” The new device is expected to hit the shelves within the following weeks with a price tag of $229.99 on contract.
