US wireless carrier AT&T announced on Wednesday the introduction of an embedded netbook and laptop offering for small businesses. The new products include AT&T’s embedded wireless technology and come from leading computer makers like Acer, HP and Panasonic. According to the mobile phone operator, the move is part of its plan to offer wireless capabilities through a variety of devices, going beyond mobile phones and smartphones, in an attempt to leverage the productivity for small businesses.

The newly announced devices will come to the market with built-in AT&T 3G wireless connectivity. According to the wireless carrier, the products will come with a global GSM standard, offering small businesses the possibility to connect not only in the US, but also in over 170 countries around the world, and in 80 countries that already have 3G networks. In addition, the AT&T Communication Manager will offer access to AT&T Wi-Fi hot spots.

“Today’s small businesses want the best of both worlds — mobility and access speed — so they can keep connected virtually wherever they live and work,” said Dan Walsh, senior vice president of Business Segment Marketing for AT&T. “Our mobile broadband offerings enable small business customers – whether they’re at home, in the office or in the field – to get the most out of quality devices from leading netbook and laptop manufacturers. And with convenience of being able to purchase online or via a toll-free number, they’re able to devote more time to taking care of their businesses.”

The acquisition of AT&T embedded devices through CDW comes with other benefits for small businesses as well, including the possibility to customize the devices to meet certain needs, a dedicated small business sales force to help determine which devices will best serve a particular business, the possibility to purchase as many units as needed, access to AT&T embedded devices from leading manufacturers and tech support at all times.

More details on the offering can be found here.
