Mobile phone carrier AT&T has made one of its Windows Phone 7 handsets, namely the LG Quantum, available for purchase for only $0.01 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement on its airwaves.

The new device was previously on sale at AT&T for $99.99 on contract, but the company decided to slash its cost further more, and made it available users interested in it almost for free via its online store.

The acquisition of a new LG Quantum from AT&T requires users to choose a voice plan that starts at $39.99 per month, with the addition of a minimum data service starting at $15 per month.

This is not the only Windows Phone 7 device that the mobile phone carrier sells in the United States, but is the only one that sports a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The smartphone comes with a 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen display that can deliver a WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) resolution, and with a 5.0-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with video recording capabilities.

The LG Quantum also features 16 GB of internal memory, as well as 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 Stereo connectivity, USB port, and a 1500 mAh battery that can offer up to 6 hours of talk time or up to 14.6 days of standby time.

Among the other features and specs this phone comes with, we can count FM Radio, Digital Compass sensor, Motion G-Sensor, Proximity sensor, Ambient Light sensor, as well as GPS receiver.

It would offer support for Mobile Email too (AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, Windows Live, Yahoo!), as well as for Instant Messaging (IM), text messaging, as well as access to Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites.

Since it runs under Windows Phone 7, LG Quantum also comes with full integration with Microsoft Office, Xbox LIVE, Bing search, and Zune.

At the same time, it hits shelves with various applications from AT&T, including AT&T U-verse Mobile, AT&T Navigator, AT&T FamilyMap, AT&T Radio, or AT&T myWireless.

Those interested in taking advantage of the new price tag at which the LG Quantum is available on AT&T's airwaves should head to the carrier's website here to learn more on the matter.
