It looks like AT&T subscribers who bought Dell's Streak tablet are finally getting the long awaited Android 2.2 Froyo update. Even though neither the carrier, nor the manufacturer made the news official, several users have already reported that they have started to receive the update OTA (Over-the-air).

Initially launched with Android 1.6, the Streak was slated for an Android 2.1 upgrade, but the manufacturer decided to pull the plug from the update due to various issues and go for the latest iteration of the platform instead.

Furthermore, Dell Streak is supposedly now sold with Android 2.2 out-of-the-box, directly from Dell's retail shops.

While the unlocked Dell Streak has already received the Android 2.2 software upgrade, users with branded Dell tablets had to wait a little longer to get it.

Lately, several users with AT&T-branded Streaks have reported that they have received update notifications from the carrier.

Unfortunately, the roll out process usually takes a long time, especially if it's done OTA, so it might take a while until all AT&T Dell Streak owners receive the update.

Courtesy to the thedroidguy website we have a few screenshots that confirm the update, as well as a list with a few of the improvements it brings, such as:

- “Dell Stage” home screen that sorts 7 home screens for quick access. Stage UI is a set of widgets that brings content to home screen for easy access. Dell's widgets can be taken off and replaced;

- The new “Dell Stage” UI works the same in portrait and landscape, as the original was default to landscape except in the phone screen;

- Swype input method is now available, but it looks like the original Dell Streak Keyboard has been removed;

- The AT&T network indicator shows the correct “H” icon for HSPA + instead of “3G”;

- Faster system operations, Adobe Flash 10.1
