Wireless carrier AT&T is enjoying strong sales of Nokia’s latest Lumia handsets, which arrived on shelves with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 operating system loaded on them.

AT&T Mobility Chief Executive Ralph de la Vega told reporters at the UBS media and communications conference that, while handsets did sell very well, stock was tight for these devices, Economic Times reports.

The wireless carrier also said that it managed to sell over 6.4 million smartphones (Android, BlackBerry, iOS and Windows Phone) in the first two months of the fourth quarter of the year.

Nokia’s latest Windows Phones were already said to have registered strong demand all around the world, although some analysts suggested that they were actually in very low supply.

In the United States, Nokia’s flagship Lumia 920 smartphone is available exclusively through AT&T, which also sells the Lumia 820 (available through T-Mobile and Verizon as well).
