Nokia Lumia 900 is shaping up as the most expected handset at wireless carrier AT&T for the first half of the year.

Not only is it the first Nokia Windows Phone to arrive on shelves at this operator, but it is also the first of them to pack support for LTE connectivity.

The Lumia 900 smartphone was made official in January during the Consumer Electronics Show, when Nokia announced its exclusive availability on the airwaves of this wireless carrier.

The one thing that was not announced at that time was the specific release date for this smartphone, but this appears to have changed today.

Following a long series of rumors regarding the possible launch of Nokia Lumia 900 at AT&T on April 8th, the wireless carrier has officially confirmed today that things would indeed happen this way.

Moreover, the company unveiled plans to have the smartphone available for only $99.99 with the signing of a contract agreement for two years.

Nokia’s flagship Windows Phone device will be one of the most affordable high-end devices at the carrier, which is expected to push the pedal to the metal when it comes to marketing this phone.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the mobile phone arrives on shelves with a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display on the front, and that it is powered by a 1.4GHz application processor.

The specifications list of Nokia Lumia 900 also includes an 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss camera on the back, with HD video recording capabilities, 16GB of internal memory, WiFi and Bluetooth, and an 1830 mAh battery.

On April 8th, AT&T customers will be able to purchase two flavors of the device, namely Black and Cyan. Both of them will be put up for pre-order on March 30th. Additionally, AT&T and Nokia plan the release of Lumia 900’s white flavor on April 22nd. The phone will go for $449.99 contract free.

“AT&T and Nokia’s relationship spans many years and we’re thrilled to introduce their first 4G LTE Windows Phone only for our customers,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president – Devices, AT&T Mobility.

“The Lumia 900 is impeccably designed with clean lines and a camera that rivals stand-alone digital cameras on the market today. Combine that with the people-first Windows Phone experience and our4G LTE network – the nations’ largest 4G network – and it’s clear that this is one of the best phones customers can find.”
