One of the enhancements that wireless carrier AT&T is expected to make to its network before the end of this year will be the addition of HD Voice capabilities, recent reports suggest.

According to AT&T senior VP Kris Rinne, HD Voice is part of the wireless carrier’s voice over LTE strategy, a recent article on AllThingsD reads.

For the HD feature to work, however, both the network and the handset need to offer support for it, and the carrier has yet to confirm which devices will receive it.

No specific info on when HD Voice will actually arrive at AT&T has been provided, but it might not be too long before the carrier makes the move, especially with other operators already announcing plans to enhance their services in this manner.

In fact, T-Mobile unveiled last week that it would be offering Apple’s iPhone 5 later this month with HD Voice.
