Officially unveiled back in January at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate has finally received a release date.

The smartphone will be available in the United States via AT&T for as low as $49.99 USD with a new two-year agreement. Customers can purchase this eco-friendly Android smartphone beginning June 10 through all AT&T retail channels.

According to AT&T, Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate is the carrier’s first 4G LTE smartphone to get UL Platinum certification. Moreover, the smartphone will be among the first to go through the operator’s eco-rating system, which is expected to be unveiled later this summer.

Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate features a back-cover made from 80% recycled material. The phone is powered by Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, but there’s a chance that Samsung will offer an Ice Cream Sandwich update at some point this year.

The device sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

On the inside, the Galaxy Exhilarate is equipped with a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 1GB of RAM. There are no details on the amount of storage, but the smartphone comes with a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

There’s also a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, as well as a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

AT&T is committed to developing and supporting products, like the Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate, that enable consumers to reduce their environmental impact without sacrificing features or the ability to enjoy a world-class smartphone experience. We're working hard every day to empower consumer choice and provide consumers with more options in-store as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility.
