Hot on the heels of iPhone 4's unveiling over at WWDC 2010, wireless carrier AT&T announced plans to carry the new Apple device on its airwaves come June 24. The move does not come as a surprise, since AT&T is currently the exclusive distributor for the iPhone in the United States. According to the company, those interested in the new iPhone will have the possibility to place pre-orders for it come June 15.

In addition to announcing plans to deliver the new iPhone to its users, AT&T went official with the fact that all those customers who would be upgrade eligible for a discounted device by the end of 2010 should have the possibility to purchase the new device immediately. “Existing iPhone customers eligible for an upgrade between today and the end of this year, have been made immediately eligible for AT&T’s best pricing for iPhone 4 with a new two-year term commitment,” the company announced.

“This is another very exciting day for AT&T customers,” said Ralph de la Vega, president and CEO, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “By teaming with Apple to deliver an extraordinary device over the nation’s fastest 3G network, we’re enabling our customers to access their favorite social networks and favorite business applications.”

The iPhone 4 is expected to arrive at AT&T in two color flavors, black and white. Two models will be put on sale, boasting 16GB and 32GB of internal memory, priced at $199 and $299, respectively. In addition to the iPhone 4, AT&T customers will also be able to purchase a new iPhone 3GS 8GB model starting with June 24, which will feature a price tag of $99. The current iPhone 3GS 16GB and 32GB models are set for price cuts, the carrier stated, adding that it will have them available for $149 and $199 on contract, respectively.

While “upgrade eligible” customers will be able to enjoy the new handsets at the aforementioned price tags, those who would like to make an early upgrade will have to pay $200 extra to get them. The iPhone 4 16GB goes $399 for an early upgrade, iPhone 4 32GB is priced at $499, while the iPhone 3GS (8GB) can be acquired for $299. All these prices include a two-year contract agreement. Those who would like to purchase the new smartphones free of contracts will have to pay $599, $699, or $499 for them, respectively.

“We know that people are eager to get iPhone 4, which is why we moved up the upgrade eligibility date for current iPhone customers by up to six months. This move, combined with the new wireless data plans we announced last week, will make it more affordable for more people to purchase an iPhone and enjoy the benefits of the mobile Internet.” For new users, AT&T put in place two new data plans, including DataPlus, which provides 200MB for $15, and DataPro, which delivers 2GB for $25.
