Major carrier AT&T has just announced new data plans for customers who purchase smartphones and tablets through its official channels beginning January 22.

The following smartphone plans will be available starting this Sunday: DataPlus 300MB: $20 for 300MB; DataPro 3GB: $30 for 3GB; DataPro 5GB: $50 for 5GB, with mobile hotspot and/or tethering.

Customers who need more data can purchase an additional gigabyte for $10. However, this option is only available on the DataPro 3GB and DataPro 5GB plans, whereas DataPlus subscribers will receive an additional 300MB for another $20.

Furthermore, customers who purchase AT&T’s tablets will benefit from the following plans: DataConnect 3GB: $30 for 3GB; DataConnect 5GB: $50 for 5GB.

Existing AT&T smartphone and tablet customers can choose to keep their current plans or they can sign up for one of the new data plans.

In the same news, the carrier confirmed that the $14.99 for 250MB plan for tablet customers would continue to be available.
