Today, AT&T announced a new monthly plan for its GoPhone smartphone customers, set to become available for them starting with October 7th.

With the new Monthly Unlimited Plan with Data, users will benefit from unlimited talk and text for their devices, as well as from 1GB of monthly data, all for only $65 per month.

Moreover, the plan also includes unlimited text messaging to Mexico, Canada and over 100 other countries, the wireless carrier announced.

“This new plan is specially designed for smartphone users, and saves them $10 per month compared to previously available options,” AT&T explains.

“The $50 monthly plan with unlimited talk and text and the $25 monthly plan with 250 minutes and unlimited nationwide text with optional data packages will continue to be available to smartphone customers.”

AT&T also notes that the new smartphone plan is being released in conjunction with the launch of a new AT&T GoPhone, namely the Android-based AT&T Fusion 2 smartphone.

The device will be available for only $99 at the wireless carrier, being capable of offering features such as email and web access, along with support for a great deal of applications.

“As more of our prepaid customers choose smartphones, we wanted to offer them a rate plan that meets their needs while still being an excellent value,” said Judy Cavalieri, vice president – Voice and Prepaid Products, AT&T.

“We're excited to offer this new option to our growing base of smartphone customers to give them a better smartphone experience while keeping their budget in check.”

At the moment, AT&T is operating the largest Wi-Fi network in the United States, with over 30,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots available at popular restaurants, hotels, bookstores and retailers around the country.

Additionally, the carrier’s customers can benefit from access to over 220,000 hotspots around the world, courtesy of various roaming agreements the carrier has signed over time.

Most of the company’s users, including those who will purchase the new Fusion 2 smartphone, can benefit from access to the carrier’s national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost.
