Wireless carrier AT&T announced on Wednesday new enhancements made to its app portfolio for small businesses, including a newly revamped online Small Business Mobile Application Recommender Tool (SMART) and four new mobile applications. According to the operator, the new improvements are meant to offer companies with limited capabilities the possibility to better use mobile technology in their operations.

The online SMART portal has been designed to enable small businesses easier find applications that suit them best, and there are also the new mobile applications AT&T launched, which are meant to streamline processes in the field for small and medium businesses, and which are available for purchase directly from the portal. In addition, the portal also offers recommendations on various applications, as well as info on software solutions, and video demos so that customers can better understand what app can help their business.

“With a new simple user-friendly interface for non-technical business users, the enhanced SMART portal allows small business owners or administrators to easily learn about, buy and provision certified third-party mobile applications from AT&T, based on industry or line of business. By offering a series of business specific options, the portal will dynamically present solutions to help small businesses do more with mobility,” the company notes.

The four newest mobile applications that small businesses can purchase from the AT&T SMART tool include AIRTIME Manager from AT&T, which enables professionals to track billable hours on their BlackBerry mobile device, or Associate from AT&T, which comes as a complete mobile dictation solution. The other two solutions are Nice Office from AT&T, an app that enables businesses to mobilize their office, and ProntoForms from AT&T, which is meant to streamline out of office business processes and workflows.

“With the enhanced SMART tool and a growing portfolio of mobile applications to address business needs, AT&T continues to be a leading technology provider and a trusted advisor for small businesses,” said Jennifer Jackson, vice president of Small Business Field Marketing for AT&T. “Mobile applications can help businesses save time, be more effective and improve productivity, and the SMART tool will help them learn about, buy and provision certified mobile applications from AT&T.”
