AT&T announced on Monday that it would start selling the BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone starting in early summer the ongoing year. The handset would become available for all AT&T customers, including small business and enterprise customers, offering them Wi-Fi connectivity and GPS capabilities, as well as rich multimedia functionality and a large amount of memory for their applications.

The BlackBerry Curve 8900 can also provide AT&T users with a faster, richer mobile Internet experience, along with access to social networking sites or business applications through the operator‘s wireless and Wi-Fi networks. We should also mention the entertainment capabilities of the phone, delivered through its wide range of multimedia features, including audio and video playback.

The specs list of the phone includes a slim form factor complemented by the attractive silver and black finish, a full-QWERTY keyboard, a high-resolution display, a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto focus and image stabilization, microSD/SDHC memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space, as well as leading email and messaging capabilities. Its battery can provide up to 5.5 hours of talk time and up to 15 days of standby time.

The BlackBerry Curve 8900 comes to AT&T as a world phone, featuring support for quad-band EDGE (850/900/1700/ 1800Mhz) and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, offering access to data in more than 170 countries and allowing users to make calls in more than 200. In addition, the on-board GPS receiver provides access to audible turn-by-turn directions and support for AT&T Navigator, as well as to AT&T Navigator Global Edition, which can offer access to maps for 21 countries.

The mobile phone carrier adds the new smartphone to an offering that also includes the BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve 8320, BlackBerry Pearl 8120, and BlackBerry 8820, all of which come with the same Wi-Fi capabilities. The BlackBerry Curve 8900 will become available for purchase at all AT&T stores, as well as online on the operator's website.
