An improved user interface optimized for mobile search

YELLOWPAGES.COM announced new enhancements to the service that make it easier for AT&T's subscribers to perform local searches from their mobiles. The enhancements enable AT&T wireless customers to conduct simple, streamlined look-ups through a single search box on MEdia Net and to experience an improved user interface optimized for mobile search.

Enhancements to MEdia Net include a single search box that differentiates popular searches for local information from general Internet searches. For example, a user who types "pizza" into the search box with a geographic area, determined by the user's ZIP code, would receive listings provided by YELLOWPAGES.COM for local pizza places as opposed to a broad listing of everything related to pizza that would likely result from a traditional search engine service.

In the "WHAT'S HOT" section on MEdia Net, which gives subscribers quick access to seasonal content of interest, consumers will now have shortcut access to relevant business listings provided by YELLOWPAGES.COM, such as links to recommended places to shop for Dad as Father's Day approaches.

YELLOWPAGES.COM has also updated its search platform for optimal mobile viewing of maps and information for users who access YELLOWPAGES.COM from their wireless Web browser or select YELLOWPAGES.COM from the list of Directories & Maps available to AT&T wireless subscribers. YELLOWPAGES.COM recently launched a "Send to Mobile" site feature that allows consumers to text message search results from their PC directly onto their mobile handsets.

"The new functionality is another example of cross-platform convergence and integration made possible by AT&T," said Jim Ryan, vice president of mobile data services, AT&T. "The YELLOWPAGES.COM brand resonates with consumers as a way to find local business information based on their particular interests and needs. AT&T customers now have access to more localized information when searching the Internet on their mobile phones."
