The firmware update process isn’t capable of switching between stock-keeping unit versions

ASUS has released a new firmware version targeted at its MeMO Pad Smart 10 mobile tablet, namely version 10.6.1.29, which consists of separate download records compatible with a specific SKU (Stock-Keeping Unit).

Because the producer doesn’t provide any changelog, I can only assume that the newly released package might improve the tablet’s overall performance and stability; however, you can apply this version and find out the changes that have been made yourself.

Bear in mind that the firmware update process isn’t capable of switching between SKUs, and installing an earlier version might not be supported, and could lead to an update crash, therefore, device malfunction.

In order to find out your SKU, go to Settings → About Tablet → Build Number, and from there you should be able to read it (it consists of the letters before the first underscore line). Just to be clear, if the build number is “WW_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx,” then the SKU will be “WW.”

The update procedure isn’t intended to be destructive, however, make sure you back up all your important files and configurations to avoid any data loss – better safe than sorry.

That being said, follow the link below, and from the list, choose the one best describing the SKU version that you have just read from the build number, and update your tablet.
