During CeBIT, ASUS had one of the biggest stands and the most eye-catching products on display were its Republic of Gamers AMD 8 Series motherboards. Still, one should not forget that ASUS has also been working on a top-level Intel-based gaming motherboard as well. This product is known as the Rampage III Extreme and is a beast based on the Intel X58 chipset. This mainboard was initially pictured at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show, which makes the fact that its key specifications aren't completely known all the more intriguing. ASUS doesn't seem to mind appeasing some of end-users’ thirst, however, and has now released a number of official pictures of the device.

As with all motherboards, the larger part of performance capabilities can be made out from simply looking at it. The ASUS Rampage III Extreme can use LGA1366 central processing units, has four PCI Express x16 slots, which are managed by an NVIDIA NF200 bridge chip, and it supports DDR3 memory.

The new pictures also reveal the implementation of SATA 6.0Gbps and USB 3.0, which means that performance enthusiasts will have all bases covered if they decide to buy this mainboard. The device even includes overclocking features, as well as the now-infamous capability of being overclocked via Bluetooth.

Other specifications of the upcoming monster board include Gigabit LAN, eSATA and Firewire connectivity, USB 2.0 ports and 7.1 channel audio. The rest of the details should become available soon enough, since official pictures usually mean that the formal introduction of a product is not too far off. Of course, the detail imminence also means that hopeful consumers are closer to having their wildest dreams shattered by the product's price tag, which will naturally be merciless.

End-users interested in ASUS’ full motherboard line may find extra information on the company's official website.
