One of the leading manufacturers of hardware components, ASUSTek, is getting ready for the next generation 140W CPUs. The company, which at the moment is entangled in a public and legal dispute with Gigabyte, has released a wide range of high-performance motherboards. These new products are expected to offer support to the upcoming 140W powered processors.

ASUSTek is known as one of the biggest manufacturers of high performance motherboards, some of which are used by a number of system builders. The company has enjoyed great success with their Striker, Striker II, Commando and Crosshair mobos, which are designed for gaming systems. Upon release, these mobos provided support for the latest technology, which is to be expected as gaming rigs are known for requiring high performance levels. The release of their new 140W-ready motherboard lineup just goes to show the company's interest in the enthusiast gamer market.

The 140W CPUs are designed to offer fast core frequencies that will provide high performances for thread-intensive games and applications. The ASUSTek motherboards are said to provide users with a highly stable platform for demanding applications. The only gaming-rated mobo that will be capable of supporting 140W Central Processing Units is the "Crosshair II Formula", which is based on NVIDIA's nForce 780a SLI chipset. The 780a SLI chipset is used for another two 140W-ready mobos.

A chart showing the mainboards that will be 140W capable includes mobos with both NVIDIA and AMD chipsets, which means a higher number of users will be able to benefit from these products. The list isn't that large, but ASUS plans to release more 140W-ready motherboards in the near future.

The new mobos will probably put ASUS as the leading manufacturer of high-performance computer platforms - which might actually be the Taiwanese company's ultimate goal on the motherboard market.
