Computer makers ASUS and HP are reportedly getting ready to take the Chinese market by storm with new tablet PCs that sport affordable price tags, including the ASUS 7-inch 8GB MeMO Pad HD 7 and the HP Slate 7.
A recent article on DigiTimes claims that ASUS plans on launching its MeMO Pad HD 7 device (supplied exclusively to the Chinese market) before the end of this month at 999 Yuan ($163 / €125). The HP Slate 7 will sport a similar cost in the country.
ASUS and HP are not the first companies to release cheap slates in China, as Acer is already present on the market with its 7-inch Iconia B1-A71 tablet, which costs 699 Yuan ($114 / €87).
Furthermore, local vendor Lenovo has already released its 7-inch Android-based tablet PC in the country, namely the A1000, which is priced at 999 Yuan as well.
