We all know the West is faithful to Apple when it comes to tablets, but some of you might be wondering the same trend applies to the East as well.

According to new information coming to us via DigiTimes, Apple rules supreme in Japan as top tablet-vendor, but interestingly enough it does not rule alone. Apparently, ASUS is keeping the American tech giant company and the two of them hold control of the entire Japanese tablet market.

In terms of OS, Google and Apple are in charge, with Android and iOS controlling up to 94.4% of the sale accounting for the months between January and October 2013.

You might be wondering where Windows 8 is in this story. It appears tablets running Microsoft’s latest make up less that 5% of the market, but since popular Japanese brands like Toshiba have launched Windows 8 slate models like the Dynabook Tab VT484 not so long ago, demand for them is expected to rise. It has also been observed that 8-inch Windows 8 models have generated some interest in the country, so the prospects are positive.
