ASUS launched the product at IFA 2014, a few weeks ago

The ASUS Zenbook UX305 is one of the first Intel Core M notebooks to have been announced by Intel. The laptop has been spotted earlier this month at IFA 2014 and it looks gorgeous.

It features that premium design that we expect from the Zenbook family, coming with a body made entirely of aluminum alloy. But when ASUS and Intel announced the product not so long ago, they didn't mention how much the producing company would be asking for it.

ASUS Zenbook UX305 won't reportedly break your piggy-bank

Judging by its advanced configurations, we were expecting the notebook to retail for a consistent price tag, but as Notebook Italia reports, the lappy might not be excessively overpriced. According to them, the base ASUS Zenbook UX305 will sell for €799 / $799, which will include 4GB of RAM, 128GB SSD and full HD display.

If this is a price you can live with, we’ll go ahead and detail the specs of this super sleek notebook taking advantage of Intel’s 14nm architecture.

For starters, the first thing you’ll notice about the product is its extremely anorexic frame. The laptop boasts a profile of only 12.3 mm  / 0.48 inches and breaks the scales at only 1.2 kg / 2.64 lbs.

ASUS offers two Zenbook models

The Zenbook UX305 arrives with a 13.3-inch display and will be offered in two versions, one in FHD (1920 x 1200 pixels) and for the more demanding users in 3K (3200 x 1800 pixels).

Both models come in matte, non-touchscreen models and a glossy multitouch version.

The IPS panel is coated by a protecting layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with the display being quite opaque, so sun-light readability should be quite advanced.

As for the computing department, everything relies on an Intel Core M chip clocked at 800MHz for standard functions (2.0GHz when the extra speed is needed) fitted with a maximum of 8GB of RAM and a solid state drive in either 128GB or 256GB configurations.

The spec list is completed by a micro HDMI port, three USB 3.0 ports, audio jack and microSD card reader, HD webcam, audio system coming under the Bang & Olufsen banner, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0.

ASUS says that, due to the internal 45 Whr battery, the Ultrabook should be able to sustain up to 10 hours of work time.

If we are to believe the report about pricing, it appears the ASUS Zenbook UX305 will be one of the cheaper Broadwell products.

For example, the Lenovo ThinkPad Helix 2 is expected to retail for $999 / €771, while the HP Envy x2 Duo will sell for $950 / €734.
