ASUS will produce revamped models of its Zenbook Ultrabook line soon enough

If you remember, last September in Berlin at IFA 2013, ASUS introduced to the world, the new Zenbook UX302, basically a refresh of the Zenbook UX301, that added a new improved graphics solution, more storage and a sleeker frame.

Half a year later, the Taiwanese manufacturer is ready to expand its line of Ultrabooks with a new version called the ASUS Zenbook UX303.

As expected, at this early stages we don’t really have much information to go on, but we can still treat you with a couple of pictures showcasing the new device plus some bits and pieces of info regarding hardware equipment.

As we previously told you, ASUS is also looking to expand is Ultrabook line, in a more extreme direction, by virtue of the Zenbook NX500 notebook that’s going to be packing an awesome 4K display.

But let’s go back to the Zenbook UX303, that like previous models in the Zenbook series maintains a simple, elegant and refined look with ultra-thin frame and rounded corners and a frame finish boasting concentric circles made with CNC molding precision (via Notebook Italia).

There’s no specific detail about the materials the UX303 will be made from, but judging by the photographs leaked online, the Ultrabook will probably boast an aluminum chassis, like we saw with the previous UX301/UX302.

Even if we’re not going to see ASUS completely overhaul the design of the UX303, we can be certain some modifications have been made on the inside.

Customers will be able to get their choice in the processor department, taking advantage of either Intel Core i5 or Core i7 (from the Haswell family) fitted with 4GB/8GB of RAM.

Moreover, ASUS will also slip in the latest generation graphics card, in the form of NVDIA GeForce GT 840M. Furthermore, users should find 1TB of storage, USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI out, Wi-fi 802.11ac and a backlit keyboard.

Like the 4K Zenbook, the audio experience is supported by Bang & Olufsen’s SonicMaster technology, which is said to be capable of providing an excellent sound quality. Battery life for the UX300 is expected to be able to take users as far as 9 hours of active use.

The last question remains the display, which will probably be a 13.3-incher touchscreen IPS one with either WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) or full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels).

We don’t have a launching date yet, but we can still speculate on it. As we told you yesterday, sources coming out of Asia claimed Intel is gearing up to release next-gen Ultrabook models taking advantage of the Broadwell processor in Q4 2014.

Since the UX300 appears to be running on Haswell, we can hypothesize the new model will arrive sooner than that date, although a Zenbook-powered Broadwell Ultrabook would be nice to behold.
