The Zenbook NX500 is the first 15-inch Ultrabook to come out of ASUS

In mid-February word got out that ASUS was preparing something special. Since 4K is the standard every device maker these days is striving towards, ASUS is apparently also looking to bring a 4K laptop to the market, that just got confirmed.

Toshiba already introduced a bunch of 4K laptops at CES 2014, so it was to be expected other notebook vendors were going to make the plunge, pretty soon.

So last month, we told you the ASUS Zenbook NX500 laptop was coming, a high-end model sorting an ultra-high resolution standard. We also showed you a picture of the purported device, but details about the product were pretty scarce back then.

Thankfully, now we’re able to come back and provide you with some pieces of new info. In February, we hypothesized that the Zenbook might have a screen anywhere between 15.6- and 17.3-inches.

According to the guys over at Notebook Italia, the NX500 is actually going to have a 15-inch display and bundle an Intel Haswell processor. The device has apparently been confirmed as the successor of the Zenbook UX51 / UX52 which was powered by Intel’s older Ivy Bridge chip architecture.

At some point in the past, ASUS updated its Zenbook UX51VZ with an impressive 2800 x 1620 pixel resolution, but the NX500 will take things even further by offering a capable 3840 x 2160 pixels.

Yesterday we told you Intel was gearing up to release next-gen Ultrabooks running on Intel’s 5th-gen architecture (Broadwell) in Q4 of the year. So judging that Zenbook will come with a Haswell processor, we can speculate the device will reach the market long before that date. Even so, ASUS might push a Broadwell update for the NX500 at some point.

Anyway, the new model is said to come with a beautiful and slim silver chassis which is extremely lightweight, making the lappy a suitable travel companion.

The NX500 will bring the dazzling 4K display ultra-high definition (4K/UHD) to your doorstep and will be capable of supporting 4K video technology, too.

ASUS is going to be adding a bunch of titanium speakers complete with SonicMaster audio technology developed by Bang & Olufsen ICEpower team. These specifications mean the Zenbook has been designed to provide an enhanced entertainment experience, so users can use the laptop for both work and fun.

Judging by the pictures we showed you so far, the NX500 looks like a cross between Zenbook series and the N series, which is also dedicated to multimedia.

That’s all we can tell you for now, but keep your fingers crossed as ASUS might put the new Zenbook on display during the Milan Design Week next month.
