Since January is almost over, IT players have mostly finished making their assumptions as to what the new year will bring.

Among other things, this means that ASUS has established its expectations for the year.

According to Digitimes, the company wants to ship 24 million notebooks by the end of December, 26.3% more than in 2012.

Quite ambitious knowing that notebook and netbook sales already grew in 2012 on-year, by 29/3% and 13.8%, respectively.

That said, ASUS also intends to push its tablet shipments up, but no less than 90.5% (12 million is the target). In 2012, they went up 250% over 2011.

All in all, ASUS hopes to ship a cumulative 36 million units of notebooks and tablets over the course of the ongoing quarter and the following three. Time will tell if it happens as intended.
