ASUS has launched its 8-inch VivoTab Note 8 back at CES 2014 as a device meant to compete with slates like Acer’s Iconia W4, Toshiba Encore 8, Dell Venue 8 Pro and Lenovo’s IdeaTab Miix 2 8.

Since then, the tablet has been made available for purchase in market across the world, including the US and UK. But if, originally, the slate sold for $329 / €241 a pop, now the tablet has been discounted and will ship out to interested parties for just $299 / €216 from the Microsoft Store.

For those who don’t remember, the ASUS slate comes with a 8-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and draws power from an Intel Atom Z3740 quad-core processor (from the Bay Trail family) with 2GB of RAM and backed up by 32GB of internal storage.

The tablet received pretty good reviews in the press and from consumers alike. One of the major highlights touted was the presence of the Wacom smart-stylus, which has been said to support up to 1,000 levels of pressure sensitivity.

However, as a word of warning, you should know that users have been reporting having issues with the Wacom stylus. According to owners complaining on forums, the smart pen stopped working altogether, so take that into consideration in case you want to pick up the tablet.
