ASUS Updates Several Laptops with Improved Specs

U50VG, K50AB, K50IJ and K70AB make a debut

ASUS updates several of its laptops

Taiwanese netbook pioneer ASUS has just announced a series of product updates part of a couple of its laptop series, providing users with choices for 15.6-inch and larger 17.3-inch displays, as well as Intel and AMD processing units. The new updates are part of the company's U-, K- and F-series, featuring different designs and built to meet the requirements of different types of customers, ranging from business men to entertainment enthusiasts.

 

With its new U50VG-XX060C laptop, ASUS will provide its customers with a 15.6-inch system, powered by Intel's Core 2 Duo T6500 processor, clocked at 2.1GHz. The model has also been equipped with 4GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce G 105M graphics card with 512MB of memory, a 250GB hard-drive and a display resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Additional features include a 1.3MP webcam, WiFi b/g/n connectivity and a backlit chiclet-style keyboard. All of these in a laptop that is set to become available in Italy for €943.20 including tax ($1,320).

 

As part of the K50-series, ASUS also introduced the AMD-based K50B and the Intel-based K50IJ. Both systems are equipped with 4GB of RAM, but come with different CPU/GPU specifications. While the K50B is powered by an AMD Turion 64 X2 Ultra ZM-84 2.3GHz processor and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 512MB GPU, the K50IJ features an Intel Pentium dual-core T4200 2GHz processor and the Intel integrated GMA X4500HD graphics card.

 

ASUS also introduced a fresh 15.6-inch model, the F52Q-SX071E, featuring a Pentium dual-core processor (2GHz T3200 ), with 2GB of RAM and the GL40 chipset. The system can be equipped with both Windows Vista and Windows XP, through a downgrade program. Priced at just €643.20 ($898), the system has been designed for business users.

 

To wrap things up, ASUS announced two new 17.3-inch models, both of which are powered by AMD Turion processors and ATI Mobility graphics. The first, K70AB-TY002C, features the Turion 64 X2 RM 74 2.2GHz processor, while the second, K70AB-TY001C, boasts a Turion 64 X2 Ultra ZM-84 running at 2.3GHz. Both have 4GB of RAM and the ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 with 512MB of memory. Prices start at €793.20 ($1,107) and €868.80 ($1,215), respectively.
