ASUS, one of the biggest motherboard producers worldwide, announced today the launch of its newest addition to the Republic of Gamers (ROG) boards series, a high performing enthusiast product, the Rampage II Extreme. The ROG motherboard features the latest innovations and components into its architecture, including Intel's chipset and SLI/CrossFireX on Demand, which enable it to offer blistering performance BY supporting the new range of Intel processors as well as multi-GPU technologies like 3-Way SLI and CrossFireX.

Since the addition must meet specific overclocking and serious gaming requirements, ASUS enabled users to push the motherboard to the limit with the ROG Extreme Engine, a multi-phase power management system featuring 16 phases for the CPU as well as three phases each for QPI/DRAM, the Northbridge and memory, and the premium Multilayer type Polymer Capacitors (ML Caps), which have been designed to maintain the stability of the power supply even under the most demanding loads.

The ROG Extreme Engine is able to keep mission-critical components such as the processor, system memory and the Northbridge reliable during overclocking. To allow users to take system performance to a new level, the ROG Rampage II Extreme also includes TweakIt and ProbeIt, two utilities that enable overclockers to adjust and monitor frequency and voltage settings directly from the motherboard itself. This way, users are able to boost maximum performance from their systems fast and easy.

Featuring the newest Intel chipset, the ROG Rampage II Extreme comes with support for Intel’s latest processor microarchitecture which means increased speed, superior multitasking, DDR3-1800 memory support and greater energy efficiency. The new motherboard also offers superior flexibility when it comes to graphics, as it provides support for both SLI and CrossFireX, allowing users to install up to three 3-Way SLI-capable graphics cards or use an ATI Radeon based setup. ASUS ensures gamers they will have the performance they want no matter which option they choose.

And, since the sound also has an important role in gaming, the motherboard maker added a SupremeFX X-Fi sound card to ROG Rampage II Extreme. The SupremeFX X-Fi makes use of the established X-Fi technologies like CMSS-3D and EAX, which allow it to deliver immersive and crystal clear multichannel audio no matter if in game or while enjoying multimedia entertainment.
