ASUS is one of the world's leading vendors of motherboards and, with the launch of Intel's new mainstream platform, with support for the new Core i5 and Core i7 Lynnfield processors, the Taiwanese company is going all out with new releases. Following yesterday's Maximus III Formula and Gene motherboards, the company also announced the introduction of the P7P55 WS SuperComputer motherboard. Built on Intel's P55 platform, the new board has been specifically designed to accommodate the requirements of workstation users.

Based on Intel's P55 Express chipset and combined with an NVIDIA NF200 chip, the new workstation motherboard from ASUS has been designed to provide users with support for the latest Core i5 and Core i7 processors, as well as the recently launched, Lynnfield-based Xeon 3400 series of processors. The board can support up to 16GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory and is featured with no less than four PCI Express 2.0 x16 graphics slots. The board can accommodate a multi-GPU configuration with support for both NVIDIA SLI and AMD's CrossFireX technologies, while the six SATA 3.0Gb/s ports, with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, can deliver an impressive storage capacity.

As one can expect from a high-end ASUS motherboard, the new P7P55 WS SuperComputer has been endowed with a significant number of additional features, like the ASUS Hybrid processor – TurboV EVO, the 24 Hybrid Phase design, the ASUS Linux-based Hybrid OS ( dubbed Express Gate ) and a couple of other ASUS features that are essentially meant to provide support for a high-end platform for a high-performance machine. Extreme users will surely take advantage of some of the board's high-end features, such as the aforementioned TurboV EVO, designed for overclocking.

Boasting an ATX form factor, the new workstation motherboard from ASUS should be available in the upcoming weeks, providing users with support for a new, high-end workstation system. Unfortunately, we have no details regarding the board's pricing.
