ASUS Transformer TF300T might be old, but it doesn’t mean you can’t revitalize it

The ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T was announced back in February 2012 and made available for purchase a few months after.

The device proved quite popular with consumers, so if you have one of those babies lying around somewhere gathering dust, you might want to know, there’s a new way of breathing some fresh life into this outdated machine.

Even if ASUS has pushed out several successors for this “pre-historic” device, some of you out there might still have a soft spot for the slate. You might have tried installing different custom ROMs on it as well, and the truth is there’s plenty to choose from.

But for those who can’t simply decide which ROM should they be going with, now there’s the option of using MultiROM (via xda-developers).

The MultiROM allows older devices such as the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T to install multiple ROMs on the device, all at once. This way users can test an entire set of ROMs and cherry pick the ones best suited to their needs.

The best thing about MultiROM is that users will be able to easily switch between ROMs without having to perform wipes and re-installs every times. Users can make up their own customized list of ROMs they want to see on their device.

For the time being, MultiROM promises the following:

- Run a primary Android ROM from the normal partitions. - Run multiple secondary ROMs from subfolders on an SD card or on an external USB stick/drive. - Easily add/update your primary and secondary ROMs using a modified version of TWRP.

However, before you jump for joy thinking of all the ways you could be taking advantage of this feat, you should know MultiROM is still in its experimental stage and is very much unofficial. So don’t expect everything to run perfectly smooth, as you will surely encounter bugs or some missing features.

For example, you won’t be able to store the ROMs on an external SD card, but they can be installed on an external USB drive.

Also note you won’t be able to install Ubuntu Touch as a ROM, for now. Other than that, judging by the comments on the XDA community, the MultiROM seems to be working quite well and might revitalize your Transformer Pad fossil.

Before trying this out on your Transformer, make sure you make a back-up, because MultiROM will modify your system, so in case anything goes wrong you’ll happy you took the time.
