It looks like ASUS's Transformer Pad TF300 Android tablet has finally decided exactly when to make its formal appearance, meaning that mainstream customers can now start gushing.

The Transformer Pad TF300 is what the company describes as a budget Android tablet, not that it is easy to assume this from the price alone.

After all, the tag, in the United Kingdom, is of £399 (16 GB storage), although, true enough, the bundle does include a detachable keyboard dock.

Currys and PC World will have exclusive rights to selling the slate, at first.

Genuine stores will get it later in the month (May 2012), after which other retailers will get their own shipments.

ASUS has chosen to provide three color options, though not all at once.

That is to say, Royal Blue, Iceberg White and Torch Red slates will become available in May, late June and late July, respectively.

People shouldn't look to monetary exchange rates in order to figure out what sort of tags the slate will bear in other regions. After all, the UK tends to have the highest prices.

Fortunately, the report that exposed all the information above also had the US prices on hand.

Before we get to that part, we really must point out that, in the United States, shipments will begin this very month (April), not the next.

That said, the 16 GB and 32 GB versions will sell for $379 and $399, respectively, in all three colors from the very beginning. The keyboard dock will sell separately, for an extra $149. European stores will likely go for just as many Euro.

For those who want a quick summary of the specs, the Pad TF300 relies on a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC (system-on-chip) and runs the Ice Cream Sandwich OS (Android 4.0 operating system). The battery life lasts for up to 10 hours (15 hours with the battery in the keyboard dock).
