ASUS is offering a new model of the device which takes advantage of metal

The ASUS Transformer Book T100 is one of the company’s most popular products, when it comes to tablets/laptops.

Taking this into consideration, ASUS is expected to soon roll out the successor of the T100, which will be called T200 and will arrive with a larger display.

But that’s not all that ASUS is prepping. The company apparently wants to be part of Microsoft Windows with Bing movement, so it will be offering two new models of the Transformer Book T100 taking advantage of this particular OS.

One of the two is the T100TAM, which has already been spotted making an appearance at the FCC. But back then we couldn't tell the exact specifications the new tablet will arrive with.

The guys over at TLBHD got an early model for testing purposes, and in their preliminary review, they reveal that the new model brings improvements in the case and screen design, but overall most features remain unchanged.

So the ASUS Transformer Book T100TAM takes advantage of an Intel Atom Z3775 quad-core Bay Trail processor working in concert with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of solid state drive.

The chip inside has been upgraded from the Atom Z3740 chip last year, but the T100TAM isn't the first model to take up the services of the Z3775 processor, so we don’t have an absolute novelty here.

The hybrid can offer up to 8 hours of battery life, and it will take users about 3 hours to fully charge the device back into life (or longer if you use the device while it is charging).

What’s distinct about the T100TAM is that ASUS will be offering it with an aluminum lid and edges.

On top of that, the company also throws in a new IPS display panel which will supposedly bring about better color accuracy (it’s the same 1366 x 768 pixel res).

Sure, if you already have a Transformer Book T100, there’s no point in considering upgrading to the new model. After all, the changes aren't all that big and you won’t notice major differences performance-wise.

However, if you have dreamed to own a metal Transformer Book T100, you will soon be given the chance to pick up such a model.

You should also be taking into consideration that plastic has its perks. The obvious reason is that the plastic version will cost you less, but another aspect will be that a metal hybrid might make for quite a heavy 2-in-1.
