It was just a matter of time before ASUS's own slate became the subject of more in-depth leaks and it seems that the specifications have finally surfaced, revealing a device that will actually be a sort of sibling to the 10-inch Eee Pad EP101TC and 12-inch Eee Pad EP121.
The tablet is an 8.9-inch electronic known as EP90 that weighs 650 grams and still packs the full set of hardware on the inside.
The heart of the configuration consists of NVIDIA's Tegra 2 platform, which boasts two ARM Cortex A9 cores, each with a clock speed of 1 GHz.
This platform is known to be able to handle advanced multimedia playback, as well as Flash and any sort of document viewing or web browsing tasks.
The tablet is equipped with a solid state drive whose internal capacity can be of 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB, and this is just part of the available storage.
What this means is that ASUS is offering 500 GB of web storage, making it possible to have constant access to a large number of files.
For those interested in specifications, the tablet's 8.9-inch display has a native resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels and, of course, a touchscreen.
The product also boasts the full range of connectivity and I/O options, such as a 0.3 megapixel webcam, 3G, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, a multi-card reader, USB and HDMI.
Finally, the battery of the electronic can keep it operational for up to 4.5 hours and the pre-loaded operating system is Windows Embedded 7.
Unfortunately, the leak on
ynet did not hold any information on pricing and availability, although one could speculate that it should at least stay below the $500 mark if it is to be in any way competitive, price-wise, with the other ARM and Windows slates out there.
Regardless, this final detail will be revealed soon, considering that the official launch should take place at CES 2011.
