It is factory overclocked and custom-cooled

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 has finally been released, which means that NVIDIA's many partners now have carte blanche to launch their own models. One of those companies is ASUS.

The video board in the attached gallery is none other than the Strix GTX 960, which is only somewhat similar to the original, and I say that because of more than the cooler and the clocks.

Normally, the GM206 GPU driving the video board operates at 1,127 MHz Base and 1,178 MHz Boost, but the Strix GTX 960 works at 1,291 MHz and 1,317 MHz, respectively.

That means 12% faster gameplay frame rates in Assassin's Creed Unity and Battlefield 4, according to ASUS.

To cope with the tweaked specs, ASUS designed the PCB with Super Alloy Power components and installed the DirectCU II cooler.

Interestingly enough, the adapter possesses three Native DisplayPort 1.2 interfaces, to support connections up to 4K/UHD (ultra-high definition) resolution.

The original has dual-link DVI, one DisplayPort 1.2, and one HDMI 2.0.

You can buy the ASUS Strix GTX 960 for around 200 dollars / euro now, and you'll even get the GPU Tweak utility with it, a program that can overclock the board even further if you need it. Also, it allows you to record and share on-screen action over the Internet in real time via the XSplit Gamecaster.
