The graphics card uses a dual-fan cooler

NVIDIA will launch its GeForce GTX 970 and 980 Maxwell-based graphics card either tomorrow or next week, which means that it would have been odd for pre-release photos to not show up.

Case in point, the GeForce GTX 970 from ASUS, called Strix GTX 970, has been spotted, and its specs have been uncovered as well.

It appears that this particular version of the graphics card has 4 GB of GDDR5 connected to the GM2014-200 GPU via a 256-bit memory interface.

It also has a dual-fan cooler whose fans spin at 500 RPM (rotations per minute) when the temperature is of over 65 degrees Celsius / 149 degrees Fahrenheit. When below that mark, they don't work at all, as the heatsink is supposedly capable of dissipating heat on its lonesome.

Kind of an awesome trait really, considering that while the GeForce GTX 970 is not the best Maxwell-based card, it is still a high-end board, the second best that NVIDIA will launch.

Speaking of which, the GPU has 1,664 CUDA cores active (2,048 is the full complement apparently, as seen on the GTX 980). More information tomorrow, September 19, assuming the Maxwell-based generation of video boards really does get launched then.
