Yesterday ASUS launched the Zenbook NX500 Ultrabook at Computex, a sleek and slim device that arrived with a 4K display and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850 GPU.

Now ASUS introduced another laptop that boasts the same advanced 4K display we saw the Ultrabook arrive with. As AnandTech notes, the ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) GX500 is a super-thin and light gaming device that should be capable of delivering advanced performance.

The GX500 arrives with a 15.6-inch display and measures just 19mm / 0.75 inches in thickness and weighs 2.2kg / 4.85 lbs. Under the compact frame ASUS has squeezed in a list of impressive specs.

The newest ASUS ROG laptop takes advantage of the latest Intel Core i7 architecture and packs NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 860M graphics card. It could be argued that this GPU is not powerful enough for the 4K/UHD gaming laptop and ASUS could have stretched things along to add the high-end NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M GPU instead.

As we noted above, this gaming machine arrives with 4K/UHD display, which translates into the notebook delivering 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution.

Like in the case of the ASUS Zenbook NX500, the company makes use of its own “VisualMaster” display tech that has a color gamut covering 100% of the NTSC spectrum and 108% of Adobe RBG.

The newly announced laptop also includes M.2 SSD running on a full PCle x4 connection and embeds a dual-fan cooling system that prevents the laptop from overheating, while you play the latest game titles available.

Like most of the times ASUS launches new products, pricing specifications and availability dates haven’t been made available, but the company’s representative have confirmed the gaming laptop will arrive in multiple configurations starting Q3 2014. That means the gaming machines will make it out just in time to land under the Christmas tree.

In related news, gamers have another interesting addition to look into, when considering purchasing a new gaming machinery.

Gigabyte’s subsidiary Aorus just rolled out the X Plus laptop, which the producing company says is the lightest gaming notebook to be made available on the market so far.

The device has a 13.9-inch screen and can be fitted with either 2560 x 1440 or 3200 x 1800 pixel resolution.

Hardware wise, the Aorus X Plus is equipped with an Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor, Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M graphics with 6GB of GDDR5. It sure beats the new ASUS in the GPU department.
