A fashionable netbook known as Eee PC 1015PW is not the only entry-level laptop that ASUS has prepared, the company having also sent out the Eee PC 1215T, a netbook based on AMD's mobile platform.

Although most netbooks, and other laptops for that matter, are powered by Intel chips, there are still exceptions, a growing number of them in fact.

Some time ago, Advanced Micro Devices decided to deliver its own set of platforms for the mobile computer market.

It is that technology that ASUS has now put to good use and created the Eee PC 1215T, a netbook that stands out from the crowd especially well because of its size.

While netbooks based on Intel's Pine Trail platform don't usually go beyond a display size of 10.1 inches, AMD does not impose that limit.

As such, the new netbook has a display with a diagonal length of 12 inches, said screen being a LED-backlit panel with a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels.

The center piece of the machine is the Athlon II Neo K125 CPU, which has a frequency of 1.7 GHz.

It is backed up by 2 GB of RAM, as well as the Mobility Radeon HD 4250 integrated graphics, which should be able to put the HD display to good use.

There is also a hard disk with a storage capacity of 320 GB, plus an extra 500 GB available through the ASUS web storage service.

Other specifications include 10/100 Ethernet, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, a 0.3 megapixel webcam and an SD/MMC card reader.

All of these components are packed inside a slim enclosure and operate on the energy provided by a 5200 mAh battery, which can last for up to 7 hours on a single charge.

The ASUS Eee PC 1215T has already been listed in the US, where it is priced at $424.99. It comes with a one-year warranty and runs Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.
