ASUS, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards, portable computer systems and hardware components, has officially introduced the new K-series Domino Collection laptops, which the company showcased earlier this year, during the CeBIT 2009 show in Hanover, Germany. Designed to provide users with a choice for a portable multimedia computer system, the new K-series laptops are featured with high-definition LCD displays, SRS premium Sound and Altec Lansing speakers.

Designed on the NVIDIA MCP75L chipset, the new notebooks deliver support for a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium Dual-Core or Celeron processors, enabling the end-user to choose the level of performance that the ASUS K40IN laptop will provide them with. The system is also equipped with the NVIDIA GeForce G102M graphics chip, featuring 512MB of VRAM, enough to power the 1366 by 768 resolution of the 14-inch HD LED backlight display.

Additional features include support for up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and a high-capacity 320GB, 5400RPM hard drive, providing the end-user with an optimum balance between portability and performance. There's also an integrated Super Multi DVD optical drive, a 3-in-1 card reader, 1.3MP web camera, integrated WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Gigabit Ethernet. ASUS trumpets that, when equipped with a 6-cell battery pack, the laptop can deliver a maximum of 6 hours of mobile computing. In addition, the overall design of the notebook is said to allow a comfortable computing experience, thanks to the ASUS IceCool design, meant to keep the system's palm rest cool.

The notebook measures 34.5 x 24.9 x 3.1~3.55 cm and is said to come in at a weight of 2.36Kg. Slated to become available in Singapore starting later this month, the laptop will be priced at SGD1,398 (US$952). Users will also be able to take advantage of the full-sized keyboard and the integrated Kensington lock, designed to deliver a plus of security for their personal data.
