Here is one monitor about which people will get the wrong idea if we say it has 1080p picture quality.

After all, 1080p is commonly used as shorthand for 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, and that's not the resolution of the ASUS Designo Series MX299Q Ultrawide 21:9 Cinematic Monitor.

Instead, it is of 2560 x 1080 pixels. The 21:9 aspect ratio means that the display is, essentially, twice as long (or wide?) as usual.

That doesn't take away from the rest of the specs though. ASUS gave the newcomer an AH-IPS screen (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching) with 178-degree viewing angles (about as wide as they get), and ASUS SonicMaster audio.

Everything is hidden inside a frame that looks as though it was inspired by a sundial (circular, hollow stand). The silver finish is a nice touch too.

Pricing and availability remain unknown.
