The newly outed update is compatible only with The New ASUS Transformer Pad mobile tablet

ASUS has made available a new firmware package targeted at its TF701T Transformer Pad (a.k.a. The New ASUS Transformer Pad), namely version 10.26.1.18, which consists of several download records compatible with a certain SKU only.

Specifically speaking, the firmware update process isn’t capable of switching between SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) versions and, moreover, it can’t apply an earlier firmware package than the one already installed on your transformer pad.

Therefore, in order to avoid any damage that the device might sustain over an update failure due to a wrong file installation, go to Settings → About Tablet → Build Number, and from there read your firmware version, as well as your tablet’s SKU.

Just to be clearer and to eliminate any doubt regarding the build number, if it reads “US_epad-10.X.X.X_2012xxxx” or similar, then the firmware version is “10.X.X.X” and the SKU is “US.”

As for the changes brought by this update, ASUS hasn’t made any changelog available along with the release. However, I can assume that, if applied, these fresh files will improve the overall performance and stability of the device.

That being said, download Firmware 10.26.1.18 for ASUS Transformer Pad TF701T for the proper SKU, apply it to the device, and enjoy your newly updated mobile tablet.
