Anyone wondering what ASUS is up to, now that CES 2012 is over and done with, can take a look at a certain business-oriented mobile PC from the Pro B series.

This is one of those fairly regular cases when an as-yet-unannounced product gets fully exposed by an eager retailer.

Amazon is the culprit this time, while the actual product is a mobile personal computer from ASUS.

The item bears the name of Pro B Series B23E and is not a consumer-oriented product, but a system intended for businesspersons.

ASUS went for a small but sturdy design, though it did not actually pass up on performance either.

The result was a portable PC that costs $922.43, or 723 Euro, give or take.

ASUS chose an Intel Core i7-2620M CPU (central processing unit) as the primary driving force of the notebook.

With a clock speed of 2.7GHz, the chip includes Intel HD graphics and is backed up by 4GB of RAM (random access memory).

Additionally, ASUS provided a hard disk drive (HDD) with a capacity of 500 GB and a platter rotary speed of 7,200 RPM (rotations per minute).

Furthermore, buyers will discover Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, an ExpressCard slot, a 5-in-1 card reader and a 2-megapixel webcam as well.

ASUS was not about to forget the HDMI output. After all, while the native resolution of the display (1,366 x 768 pixels) is reasonable, the screen size of 12.5 inches is rather on the small side.

Finally, business users will be glad to know that all the above components are packed inside a durable black frame, made of magnesium-aluminum alloy.

ASUS even chose a spill-proof keyboard and a Sonata long life battery (900-charge cycle).

People interested in the newcomer can drop by this page, since that is where orders (or pre-orders, at the very least) will be possible to place. Alas, no hint was given as to how long it will be before ASUS formally released the B23E-XH71.
