Advanced Micro Devices may have dissed NVIDIA's G-Sync technology and its reliance on a hardware part that monitor makers have to add on top of the normal stuff, but that isn't stopping said makers from actually using it.

Case in point, ASUS has launched a display, one that has all the markings of a gaming screen and, thus, the qualifications of a ROG product.

ROG, Republic of Gamers, is the brand ASUS sticks to its very best consumer hardware, and the ROG Swift PG278Q definitely fits the bill.

After all, even without the G-Sync support (balances frame rate from graphics card with the one of the monitor), it would have scored points for the refresh rate of 120+ Hz, the response time of 1ms (it doesn't get any better than this) and, of course, the native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

It's not the 4K quality everyone is crazy about, but it's not like anyone actually plays games at 4K, and if they do, they usually use a multi-monitor setup or a UHD TV anyway.

Moving on, the monitor also supports ASUS GamePlus technology, an OSD overlay that lets the crosshair and timers in games to be displayed on the monitor. Gamers can choose different crosshair types in shooters and track elapsed time in real-time strategy games.

Then there's the 6 mm bezel (good for multi-monitor setups), brightness of 350 cd/m2, 16.7 million colors, stand adjustment support (tilt, swivel, pivot, height) and multiple inputs (DisplayPort and two USBH 3.0 connectors).

Finally, the ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q Monitor comes with a VESA wall mount and a 5-way joystick for OSD navigation.

All for the price of $799 / €799, though you won't be able to enjoy the benefits of this product until some point during the second quarter of 2014.
