It appears that ASUS figured this would be a good time for a new, enthusiast-grade video adapter to emerge, so it made the announcement of the ROG MMATRIX GTX 580, complete with overclocking tools.
By now, one would be hard-pressed to see many people raise eyebrow in surprise at the coming of some new
video card or another.
Even high-end boards seldom truly succeed in shocking prospective buyers, even though their performance and feature sets are nothing to scoff at.
As such, it was not that great a surprise to learn that ASUS has completed the ROG MATRIX GTX 580.
The Republic of Gamers (ROG) logo alone is enough to put this model in the top tier and, sure enough, the specifications and extras live up to the level.
The GPU works at a speed of 816 MHz, while the 1,536 MB of GDDR5 VRAM operate at 4.8 GHz, with the memory interface being of 384 bits.
Two dual-link DVI ports are present, along with a DispalPort connector and an HDMI ports, plus HDCP compliance.
Furthermore, overclocking is easily done thanks to themselves integrated TweakIt and ProbeIt technologies, with a Safe mode button available for instant option reset.
“The ROG MATRIX GTX 580 is a high-performance graphics card for enthusiasts and gamers who demand the very best with NVIDIA® GeForce GTX 580 GPU,” said Mr. Vinay Shetty – Country Head, Component Business, ASUS (India).
“The 19-Phase Super Alloy Power technology provides greater overclocking headroom with enhanced power efficiency and component durability.”
In addition to TweakIt and ProbeIt, real-time overclocking control is accomplished via the GPU Tweak utility, while the 19-phase Super Alloy Power components give the needed stability and durability.
Finally, for cooling, ASUS used “an exclusive DirectCU II thermal design that puts copper heat pipes in direct contact with the GPU to effectively dissipate heat.” No pricing details were given.
