Not exactly long ago, NVIDIA came out and unleashed a full range of mobile GPUs, and ASUS has now taken it upon itself to promote said chips by placing them inside the ASUS ROG G53 and G73 high-end mobile computers.

NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 400M and GT 400M GPUs promise to bring DirectX 11 and overall good graphics to the performance market.

As one would expect, the GTX 460M is one of the more capable of the lot, and it is this model that ASUS utilized in its notebooks.

For those interested in a reminder, this solution boasts 192 CUDA cores and 1.5GB of GDDR5 VRAM.

The exact names of the G53 and G73 gaming laptops are G53JW and G73JW and their screen sizes are of 15.6 and 17.3 inches.

In terms of hardware, the heart of either laptop can be an Intel Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 central processing unit, backed up by 4GB of RAM.

The machines also feature storage of up to 750GB, as well as an optical disk drive, which is either a DVD or Blu-ray drive.

What's more, the notebooks pack an 8-in-1 card reader each, 2 megapixel webcams and Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 n WiFi.

As for the screens, the G53 has a display with a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels, whereas the G73 is designed with one whose resolution is 1,600 x 900 pixels.

According to the press release, the laptops run on 8-cell, 5,200 mAh batteries and are loaded with the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit operating system. Unfortunately, the press release doesn't explicitly give out pricing details.

“ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) G53 and G73 gaming notebooks represent the first time the new NVIDIA GTX 460M comes with a massive 1.5GB of GDDR5 memory,” states the official announcement.

“This also signifies the first time the NVIDIA GTX 460M has been put to use rendering 3D visuals, a key aspect of G53 and G73 gaming notebooks," the release added.

UPDATE

To clarify, while the displays here mentioned are those from the base configuations, Full HD options (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) are also available.
