Every once in a while, a PC maker comes up with one or several top-grade systems, and the ROG G53 and G73 that ASUS created definitely belong to this category as far as mobile PCs are concerned, combining high-end processing with graphics and a display of the same level.

Basically, the two laptops are high-end gaming notebooks with support for DirectX 11 graphics and even 3D.

The support for advanced graphics is granted by the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M video board, a discrete mobile GPU based on the Fermi architecture.

The two high-end laptops are similar in several respects, the first and most obvious one being the central processing unit (CPU).

The CPU in question is the Intel Core i7-740QM, which has a clock speed of 1.73 GHz and is backed up by either 6 GB of RAM (G53) or, in the case of the G73, 8 GB.

The machines also have high-capacity hard disk drives, of 750 GB for the G53 and one of 1TB for the larger and mightier G73.

What's more, the products boast the full range of connectivity and I/O options, the list including such things as Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, a 2 megapixel webcam, an 8-in-1 card reader and even an USB 3.0 port.

As for the displays, the G53 has one with a diagonal of 15.6 inches and support for 3D and NVIDIA 3D Vision, while the screen of the G73 is quite similar, only it measures 17.3 inches.

Finally, both notebooks are equipped with a Blu-ray combo drive, so that they may read all kinds of optical disks and play high-quality media.

The G53, codename JW-IX159V, has a price of 1,899 Euro, whereas the G73 (JW-91121V) sells for 2,199 Euro.

Both are pre-loaded with the Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS and have now reportedly made their way to Europe, bundled with the 3D Vision Kit.
