ASUS' graphics card and motherboard business might not be performing as well as its range of Eee PC netbooks, but that doesn't stop the Taiwanese manufacturer from releasing new and better products. On that note, the company is now expected to unveil a product that will become part of the Matrix series of graphics. The new card will be powered by one of the latest ATI Radeon GPUs, and will be offered alongside ASUS' current GeForce-enabled Matrix graphics cards.

The Matrix Series Radeon HD 4850 graphics card has already been pictured, despite no official announcement on behalf of the company. Still, computer enthusiasts out there looking for a new mainstream product should be expecting the new Radeon HD 4850 graphics card from ASUS sometime in November.

As with other Matrix Series graphics cards, ASUS has equipped this Radeon HD 4850 with a custom cooling solution that is meant to ease the temperatures of the GPU more effectively. Aside from the cool looking dual-slot fan sink Hybrid Cooler, the new Matrix Series HD 4850 basically equips the same performance specifications as a reference model. This will bring a 55nm RV770 GPU clocked at 625MHz, 512MB of GDDR3 memory running at 1986 MHz and 800 Stream processors.

You will obviously also get support for ATI's own CrossFireX technology that will enable you to further expand the graphics performance of your desktop computer system, by simply adding an additional HD 4850 graphics card. Other features include a complete monitoring of the GPU/Memory/board power consumption and temperatures, as well as an automatic control of fan speeds, according to the advanced GPU loading detection.

Additional customizable functions make this card a favorite for all the gaming users out there looking for a high-performance, yet affordable graphics card. Unfortunately, no details are currently available regarding the card's estimated retail price tag, but it should soon arrive in stores.
