14 DAY TRIAL // Computer maker ASUS has made available for download the full ROM of a new software update for its PadFone 2 device, namely build 10.4.9.6.
The firmware brings a nice range of enhancements to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean-based device, and is now up for grabs through the company’s website.
Users can also get the update on their devices by going to Settings > About PadFone > Software Update. From there, they can get the new software on WWE and RU units, a recent post on Android Police reads.
The device already has a lot to offer in terms of performance and features, courtesy of its Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Krait processor with Adreno 320 graphics and 2GB LPDDR2 RAM, yet the list of enhancements in the new update is a pretty hefty one.
ASUS packed the software with improvements to the camera, call stability, battery life, Wi-Fi connectivity, application stability and the like.
The full list of changes includes the following:
- Added 7-day weather forecast; - Added revolving desktop wallpapers and pinch-to-preview feature for all desktop wallpapers in one screen of Pad; - Added multiple line translation feature in the default browser; - Enhanced system stability; - Improved video playback quality; - Added full screen playback of YouTube videos on Pad; - Improved HDR photo quality; - Improved camera focus, video recording, and preview functions; - Improved phonetic typing speed; - Improved Bejeweled game’s audio playback; - Improved call stability using a Bluetooth headset; - Improved power-saving feature: White PadFone2 backlight keys will only light up in a low light environment; - Improved Wi-fi AP’s compatibility and system stability; - Improved MP3 audio playback and ringtone’s volume and stability; - Improved incoming e-mail handling; - Improved WeatherTime Widget’s stability.
